CHILDREN’S & YOUTH MINISTRY

“Train a child in a way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.”
Proverbs 22: 6

To train a child at early ages the right way of life and the way of wisdom make him prepare for the rest of his life. The Child who gains knowledge of wisdom and life never gets turn from it even at his late old age. The Church need to train, direct and advice the child with relevant discipline and primarily involved in every area of the child ’ s life. The Bible says:
“Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline will derive it far from him.”
Prov. 22:15

The Church is responsible to bring up children in the knowledge of the Bible, sharing the biblical values as well as helping them to know their social, political and cultural values with the intention to help them find their both spiritual/Christian and national identity.
The OECC works on Children and youth with the specific objective:

  • To help them grown in biblical knowledge with deep rooted and profound Christian faith,
  • To build them up in spiritual life as future Church with the intention to mitigate generation gap and capacitate them in the ministry of the Church and propagation of the gospel,
  • To contribute in child/youth character formation and behavioural quality building,
  • To guide them focus on their education to make them responsible citizens,
  • To assist them get full knowledge of their Oromo identity with linguistic, cultural and life values and experience,

“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother – which is the first commandment with a promise – that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth. Fathers, do not exasperate you children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.” 
Ephesians 6: 1-4
